[+] made a few banana streusel muffins that everyone loved
[+] did a little bit of crocheting to keep my hands busy and mind off our loss :( it is hard though as there have been lots and LOTS of tears

film corner

I loved What's your number? not overly funny nor too romantic I enjoyed it a lot, maybe because of Chris Evans? The Artist I could not keep my eyes off the screen & Tower Heist was ok. There has been a lot of comments on J.Edgar and it was interesting but I definitely would not see it again, Puss in boots was funny and cute and 50/50 was just, well just very plain.

Today is a day that I have been dreading since the beginning of this month...it is my tutorial registration day. For those who have ever been to uni you will probably know the headache that it involves and for me it is no different. I unfortunately had to wait around until 3:30pm to officially sign up for my subjects this semester and I was in no mood to hang around here waiting for 3:30 to finally come around. So I grabbed my keys and drove to the local op shop. Nothing took my fancy and as I am getting ready to leave I spot this adorable cream & sugar set.  It is definitely too cute for words, isn't it?

Today was an extremely busy kind of day, I did a little bit of baking...two whole wheat bread loaves one for us and one for my husband as he will be travelling for the next three days.  And I baked my youngest boy his birthday caramel mud cake.  It didn't turn out quite like I had pictured but looks are definitely not important around these parts and it certainly didn't bother the birthday boy, although he did complain about it not having a candle. My 12 year old is plenty demanding!

I am ready for bed...I am so exhausted and I am not too sure why. It is only 7pm! but fingers crossed I DO NOT scare myself too much these next few nights and can get a bit of sleep.

I can't believe how quickly this week has gone...the cinnamon roll cake was made exactly a week ago and I was going to upload the photo with the recipe but time got the better of me...as usual.  Oh my does time go swiftly!

These are just a few photos I managed to snap, including one of my teenager upset with his mama.

On to the recipe...(requested by Laura) this is definitely one that your tummy will love

Cinnamon Roll Cake

Cake
3 cups self-raising flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups milk
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
113g unsalted butter, melted

Topping
226g unsalted butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1 tablespoon cinnamon

Glaze
2 cups icing sugar
5 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla

Preparation:

  1. Preheat oven to 180C.

  2. Mix the flour, salt, sugar, milk, eggs and vanilla. Once combined, slowly stir in the 1/2 cup melted butter. Pour batter into a greased baking pan.

  3. In a large bowl, mix the 226g of softened butter, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon until well combined. Drop evenly over cake batter by the tablespoonfuls and use a knife to marble through the cake.

  4. Bake at 180C for 25-30 minutes or until skewer comes out nearly clean when inserted in centre of cake.

  5. For the glaze mix icing sugar, milk and vanilla in a large bowl. Whisk until smooth and drizzle over warm cake. Serve warm or at room temperature.

a frankie photo album giveaway

Unlike like normal giveaways on a lot of blogs out there I usually am the one that does the purchasing of all the items I giveaway...no sponsors for me.  Which is sad really as I would dearly love to giveaway something super spectacular. But I hope this giveaway is still exciting for a few ;)  I had planned  announcing this little giveaway on my 300th post but feeling so down in the dumps I postponed it which is quite silly as I had already bought it!

Here is what is up for grabs:
