who wants pudding?

Last night I decided to check out the newest apps on my iphone. I always head straight to the photography section, (yes I am a little obsessed with photography) and I came across a great little app called 'pudding camera'. It is a free app, I am not sure why as it is amazing! it has 7 different cameras with 7 different types of films.  The only problem? it is in Korean so I don't understand any of the instructions but I still managed to play with it.

I wish I could have taken one photo and added the different effects to compare but I don't know if the app does that. My fave, so far has to be the 'fantasy' camera. If you have an iphone...be sure to check it out. I'm sure you will love it!

Mailbox presents

I arrived home from uni, and saw a parcel in the letterbox. I thought it was for Andres since he gets work things through the mail all the time so was quite surprised when I saw my name on the parcel. I received a special parcel from Macarena all the way from Chile. She sent me so many lovely things, especially this necklace photographed. [Gracias Macarena, esta todo tan bonito!]

I also photographed this Donna Hay magazine, I love her style and this kids magazine is gorgeous. I love the pastel colours that are used throughout it and all the recipes look yummy. It has given me a lot of ideas too on how to photograph things ;) I can't wait to try them out.

Photo fun

119/365

Uni has started again, and I have illustration this semester. I am hoping (and crossing my fingers too) that secretly I am really good at it ;) No photography subjects though which I am sad about but I guess it doesn't mean I can't take photos...even if it is pouring rain outside like today.

Knee highs

I bought myself some warm knee highs today, very warm but I really wanted some grey ones :)

My last weekend of freedom, I start classes on Monday. BOO!! haha

Full of vegetables

It is funny isn't it? the kids won't eat vegetables on their own but roll them in pastry and they come back for seconds. My kids aren't bad with their vegetables, just the youngest, but I put in some broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, onions & potatoes and she loved them.

I went to Windsor today with the intention of buying some vintage postcards but they weren't at all nice so I wandered around and found this gorgeous cupcake stand at this
'bargain shop' but thought it was a little dear at $19. I drove to Richmond and I love the drive there, it is like being in another time and I wish I could have taken photos while driving. I *was* looking for a medicare office but found this cute kitchen shop with such gorgeous gorgeous items, I had a wander inside and they also had these stands but for $30! I might have to go back for the stand but knowing my luck they won't have any left. I did manage to get these small tart tins, as I am dying to make some apple tarts. This weekend maybe?

my weekend

Playing with shadows :)

do-ugh

I woke up cleaning and day ended the same way, it is never ending job...around here anyway. While cleaning the kitchen sink I cut myself on a piece of china I didn't see. I slid my finger on this tiniest piece of china and the blood starting pouring out. It is still sore but I still managed to cook for my four kangaroos today.

I made the kids this Chilean biscuit, not really a biscuit but wouldn't know what to class it as. They are called calzones rotos which translates 'torn underwear'. It is a dough that is cut into rectangles with a slit in the middle, one end is passed through the slit forming a twist. They are then fried and when golden sprinkled with a lot of icing sugar yum!. I've included the recipe, just in case ;)

Calzones Rotos
3 cups of plain flour
1/2 cup icing sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
2 tablespoons butter
1 egg & 2 egg yolks
1 teaspoon of grated orange rind

  1. Sift flour, baking powder and icing sugar into a bowl.

  2. Add softened butter, egg, egg yolks and orange rind and form into a dough. If too dry add water (I usually add 1/2 cup). Knead dough until soft and not sticky.

  3. Roll out dough on a floured board leaving it quite thin 1-2cm and cut into rectangles. Cut a slit in the middle but not too large just big enough for one end to pass through.

  4. Heat oil in frying pan and when hot fry a couple at a time. Draining well when they are lightly browned and while still warm sprinkle with icing sugar. Enjoy!

"Each new sunrise brings brighter days ahead"

Mum finally started her chemo today. She was very frightened but so far has not felt unwell. Fingers crossed she continues to feel that way.

darling street

I can officially cross off one of to-dos over this semester break, and it is the best one. Guess where I went? clue below

I went to Adriano Zumbo's! YAY

It was amazing...even though the queue was long. I waited 40 minutes to get my foot inside his shop but it was worth it. While waiting outside a lady comes out of the shop and tells everyone waiting 'there are no more macaroons'. I was disappointed but still I couldn't wait for his sweets. When we finally made it inside a man arrived with 4 cake boxes and I say excitedly to the lady in front, 'I think those are macaroons' and THEY WERE!! Adriano was not there but there was an amazing photo in the front window (pictured above). If you have not gone and live in Sydney I really recommend you go, although not on the weekends. Apparently the lines are extra long on the weekends. The macaroons were amazing, so was the toffee apple eclair and lola yummmmm.

I got to see the Harbour Bridge...but meh! I've seen it before. Hehe.

Tuesday, July 13

there's a snake in my boot

Today was the longest day but a very fun day too! I finally went to watch Toy Story 3 at the drive-in. It started to rain earlier but luckily it cleared up in time to watch the movie :)

Saturday, July 10

the one

Yes! woohoo these are the ones. The recipe I have been searching for...now I have to figure out what to do with the leftover egg whites :/

two weeks left

Experimenting with textures...fun :)

I forgot to mention that yesterday I got my uni results. Two credits & two distinctions! I was told that if I passed I was going to be taken to Sizzler but my four men are away camping this weekend, how convenient :/

I made some alfajores yesterday, but this recipe isn't the one I was looking for. These are more like cookies and the ones I want are like wafer biscuits. I am trying again tomorrow with another recipe. I need to find this recipe.

Two weeks left of holidays and most of the things I wanted to do haven't been done. My list has been revised and I hope that in these two weeks I have left I can at least cross off one.

[+] Go to Adriano Zumbo's patisserie (who has been watching MasterChef? his creations are CRAZY beautiful)
[+] Go to the Blue Mountains
[+] Read at least one book more
[+] Watch Toy Story 3 at the drive-in

Fingers crossed ;)

for you

my accidental happily ever after
the way you smile and how you comfort me with your laughter
i must admit you were not a part of my book
but now if you open it up and take a look
you're the beginning and the end of every chapter

Love this song...love him.

I've been tagged

I've been tagged by the lovely Erimentha for an 'honesty award', you are so sweet! I usually suck at these things and I am really not interesting at all, but I'll have a go. I don't think I know 6 people to tag though so I hope that is ok :(

Share one thing that nobody knows about you
This is a thing I don't mention often or not at all to people, maybe because of the stigma attached to it or perhaps because it is considered a 'bad' thing...I don't know. My big secret is I have been seeing a psychologist for my anxiety issues. I guess embarrassment also plays a big role in not mentioning this but it is good to have someone to talk to who can help you cope with your worries or stresses.

What is your biggest regret in life
I guess all the bad things that happen is what makes you a better person so I don't regret the mistakes or things I have said. My only regret is not having had another little girl, a sister for my daughter.

What would you do for a thousand dollars
Not sure how much you could do with a thousand dollars. I would probably save it for a rainy day cause with 4 kids they happen so often.

What secretly makes you happy
This will probably sound silly to some but it truly makes my little heart happy. I love waking up in the morning and checking to see if I have emails on my iphone. Seeing I have a couple there that are not junk makes me happy, or receiving mail instead of bills. I don't get many though.

If you could go back in time, would you still pick the person you are with right now?
YES...he is amazing and truly crazy to have married a gal like me.

What do you like or dislike about my (the taggers) blog page?
No dislikes. I like her originality.

If you could take a trip anywhere, who would you take with you?
I'd go to Hawaii (my dream destination since I was a young'n) with the love of my life and my four kangaroos...pictured below

Tuesday, July 6

grey

It looks like I am angry but I swear I'm not...just a little too much light in my eye ;) Hopefully you cannot see my grey hairs, yes I do have a few and just on the side of my head, above my ears and on my eyebrows too! Boo for grey hairs.

sweet package

I just received my package from my package partner. Angie...everything is so cute, thank you so much. I love it all especially the cute hair bow :)

hungry boys

Made some scones for my boys today, it seems nothing will fill them up! Food that used to last me two days, I am now lucky if it last a couple of hours. I think I am going to be exhausted after the school holidays :(

But, that aside these have to be the best scones around. So fluffy and so easy to make too! and only three ingredients.

weekend fun

Lots of weeding & eating of bikkies this weekend :)

Friday, July 2

fishy fishy

I made some cocktail fishcakes today and the whole house smelt of fish. I had to open doors and windows to let the smell out. I also lit this yummy candle, I love the smell. I only hope the clothes don't smell of fish. Bleurgh!

I finally figured out the ears...he is almost complete. Such a cute little owl, although my fingers are sore from the crochet hook.

I have no plans for the weekend, we did want to go watch Toy Story 3 at the drive-in (only $22 for a family of 6..so cheap!) but we don't have a radio in the car. It is a good thing though, the windows always fog up when we go to the drive-in. Hope you all have a nice weekend, I am so tired I am off to bed.

Thursday, July 1

owl crochet along

I've been working on this today...still can't make his ears though :/
