things

Sorry I've been away for so long, it has truly felt like an eternity. Maybe because I've hardly had my camera in my hands or because so much has been going on, but life has been crazy as usual. My internet has been down for the past two weeks, when it finally came on it lasted a short while before it died again THEN our little van died, Andres tried repairing it but then it died a few days later...it wasn't a good week AND to top that week off someone hacked my website and I lost my posts. Thankfully all is well again.

I wish I had taken a few more photos, but sadly this is it:

I hope everyone has been well...have a great weekend friends :)

a bit of apple bread making (I am still looking for the perfect apple bread, this sadly wasn't 'it') and a little of my moleskine planner. I don't often show it but since I posted it on a organiser group I decided I would here too ;)

the weekend is here!

Finally Friday, YES! although that does also mean only next week left before going back to uni :(

20110722_1791

This week has been so wet in Sydney and I haven't been able to plant my little tomatoes but I do have my hyacinth, avocado & rosemary on the kitchen window sill. Sorry about the dust on the flyscreen, I definitely have to clean that soon :/

A bunch of avantcards I have, one reason I am looking forward to going back to uni, my stock is running short ;)

A special thank you to all of you who messaged me before my interview yesterday. I never truly know how I go at these things so I am sorry I cannot say anything just yet. I will mention though that I did feel awful during the interview, they always ask you what you have done, where you have worked previously, what you know how to do and there was the briefest moment I felt like I was being a bit braggy. I don't know, I am not good at giving my good points or qualities, so while I was it felt to me that I was being boastful and I truly hope that I didn't appear to be that way :(

I also wanted to explain my previous post, the reason behind it and why it was so long. I often feel like I am hiding my true self on this blog...my blog, maybe out of fear or because I would shock a few readers...I don't know. But I do want to be a little more of myself and if it isn't pleasing to some readers I apologise, I can't be anyone else but me (unfortunately).

Some shocking things you should know about me:

[+] i am not the perfect mother, wife or daughter. There are times I get angry & raise my voice, don't do my bed for a couple of days, get lazy & can't for the life of me rack up the energy to cook a proper meal and spend way too much time on my computer or watching movies than doing homework

[+] i can be quite a perfectionist and get on people's nerves and in fact in my old work I would get in earlier just to clean my desk and my superior would say "ocd Katyha?" I just like things done properly, my fridge has to be arranged and so do my cupboards. I need to see what I have otherwise I would be buying and buying the same things, if this is too perfectionist or ocd then I guess I am

[+] i cannot for the life of me write in my diary with a pen, I prefer pencil (I don't want to wreck it). When I was in high school if I thought my pages looked too messy I would rip the page out and start all over again

[+] andres & I really have not much in common except for our beliefs...religious, cultural & how to raise our children. I love being in the garden and to have a little farm with chooks & a vegetable garden would be the ultimate for me, he hates anything to do with farms & gardens, he hates computers and I love them, after he punishes the kids he will sit and talk to them for what seems hours, I am quite the opposite, he is extremely messy & unorganised and I am like I have mentioned before very organised

[+] i like to answer every comment I receive personally via email, I feel awfully rude if I don't. My emails are often quite long and chatty too

[+] i am very much like Anne (Anne of Green Gables) searching for a kindred spirit. I do like to keep in touch & get a little more personal

A little glimpse of my diary ?
Hope everyone is having a lovely week ^___^

as usual

photos from my week so far.
life is keeping me busy...as usual!

time

[+] My latest finds at my local op shop from yesterdays visit. A cute children's book, a little frame with an old handkerchief (I think), embroidered sheet (tea towel size), a gardening book and the Phantom of the Opera that I have wanted to read for the longest time. Not sure what to do with the embroidered sheet but it was so delicate and pretty & reminded me of the time my mother did some embroidery.

Have a lovely weekend friends, I'll be baking a cake (tres leches again) for my oldest boy who turns 16! time really has flown

creating

Creating...not much but I've been doing a bit of drawing, a bit of origami, a bit of crochet.

Happy Australia day to all my fellow Aussies (we are expecting temps of 42?C/107?F tomorrow where we live)...hope it's a ripper! Hooroo :D

Friday, January 14

one year older

[+] Birthday present from my baby sis...I unfortunately turned one year older today *sigh* I'm getting old.

[+] This is a sketchbook I have started to document this year through my very bad drawings, I'm excited about this little project and truly hope my drawings can look half as good as Elizabeth's. They are amazing!

[+] I've been missing from my blog for a while as I have been a little preoccupied with my 4 boys. They went camping a day after we arrived from our holidays in Port Macquarie with the Pathfinders from our local church (a group similar to scouts). They journeyed all night to Toowoomba and experienced a lot of the bad weather while there. Thankfully they arrived back safely but when passing through different towns on their journey back, the floods were closely behind. I am so glad to have them back NOT too happy about all the washing they brought back though. Fingers crossed the weather gets a lot better soon for our fellow Aussies doing it hard, we are thinking of you during this time.

rainy days

My week has been very bland...with a very sick husband who destroyed my clothes dryer, very cloudy days with lots of rain and a lot more drawing of animals. But I'm counting down the days till I finish...16 days :)

Friday, October 8

ricky the rabbit

The colouring-in of my animal alphabet is taking a little longer than I anticipated. It took me forever to decide whether to use markers, paint or pastels and although I still am not 100% on the watercolour, I have nonetheless commenced. My only problem is the outline, what colour should I use? I used brown and light grey on the above pictures although not sure if they are the right colours to use.

I am so glad this will all be over in three weeks!

just in case you were wondering

Just in case you were wondering where I've disappeared to, I've been around just a little busy doing some of this

trying to drive my car with this on the back, compliments of my camping men

buying this adorable gingerbread man

drawing up some guides for my children's alphabet

drawing furry little koalas

I also watched 'Despicable me' on Sunday with Ruby...no photo though :(

quiet times

This is an illustrated children's alphabet I am currently working on. I think the letters are too big :/

A pretty girl I made with a vintage dress! I love her :)

Lovely quote that had to be illustrated but the typeface is all wrong.

Best way to end the day! cool strawberry milk, I'm just missing the straw :(

Today was a long day! from the moment my feet touched the floor I was a busy little bee. I made some scones for my boys for breakfast and then we headed to the camping store to get more supplies for their weekend trip. Yes! I am without ALL BOYS this weekend...so lovely, I love them but they can get really noisy at times. After we got back I cooked lunch for them and hurried them out the door and then spent all afternoon cleaning. It won't last though, a shame really but at least I will be sleeping in a comfy bed tonight and have access to a toilet and shower. They will doing their version of 'man versus wild' while me and Ruby relax. Good times!

Tuesday, September 21

doodling

things that make me happy at the moment...drawing. While I have never considered myself a good drawer at all I am really enjoying it.

Monday, September 20

rawr

Today was the first day of my week break from uni *sigh* I wish it was two weeks but unfortunately it is only one but I shall make the most of this week. So today I bought some new socks. Today I had a caramel slice & creme brulee at Gloria Jeans *yum*

today I drew a dinosaur...rawr!

Sunday, September 19

piff paff puff

I really hate this plant and as much as I neglect it is still alive. It has these pretty pink flowers, and very smelly flowers. I got a bunch picked for me by Ruby so I have to keep for a couple of days. Vile plant.

OH! I forgot to mention I got the frankie diary I ordered in the mail on Friday. I'm not excited about it, in fact I imagined it a whole lot better in my head.

I've been drawing too...I enjoy it, but I really need to do a special class or course as illustration this semester is not about learning to draw. Very confusing :/
